The 800-volt battery

50 kWh of energy, 800 volts of pressure, and one rule: every joule you waste is a lap you don't finish. Manage the pack through a race, and steal energy back every time you brake.

Cells, modules, pack

A race battery is thousands of small cells grouped into modules, wired into one pack. The ODYSSEY 21 carries 50 kWh: roughly the energy in 4.5 litres of petrol, delivered with no exhaust and instant response.

Why 800 volts

Power = voltage × current. Push the voltage up and you need half the current of a 400 V system for the same power: thinner cables, less heat, lighter car, faster charging. That is why racing went high-voltage first.

Regen: braking that pays you back

Lift off and brake, and the eMotors flip into generators: the car's motion drives them backwards, pushing charge into the pack instead of burning speed as brake heat. You felt it in the lab: harvest more, run more laps.
